Two days a week, I sit in a classroom surrounded by adults who weren’t raised speaking English. Their first languages are Ukrainian, Tgrinya, and Arabic. Even the teacher hails from another country, so they are glad to have a native English speaker helping this year, even if I do have a bit of a southern accent.
